Abstract:
Disclosed are a hexagonal ferrite magnetic powder which allows reduction of pollutants originating from organic materials, and a magnetic recording medium using the same. The disclosed magnetic recording medium is constituted using a hexagonal ferrite magnetic powder for which, when adding 0.05g of the sample powder to 100mL of a pH 11 potassium hydroxide solution and then adding nitric acid with a concentration of 0.10mol/L in an amount which if added to the 100mL of the pH 11 potassium hydroxide solution (a blank solution) would result in a the pH 5 solution, the indicated pH value is 5 or more.
