Abstract:
Provided is a high-safety/high-energy-density cell in which concerns about safety when the amount of lithium that can be accepted by a negative-electrode carbon material is less than the amount of lithium that can be discharged by the positive-electrode active material are overcome by using a large amount of metal material in the negative-electrode active material to increase energy density. The present invention pertains to a lithium-ion secondary cell in which the positive electrode has a charge capacity per unit area of 3mAh/cm2 or more, the negative electrode includes carbon and a metal and/or a metal oxide as negative-electrode active materials, the amount of lithium that can be accepted by the carbon included in the negative electrode is less than the amount of lithium that can be discharged by the positive electrode, and the thermal shrinkage of a separator in the electrolyte is 3% or less at the boiling point of the electrolyte.
