Abstract:
The present invention provides a high frequency power amplifier which is of small size and has a high degree of design freedom with respect to gain change immediately after the start-up of the amplifier. The high frequency power amplifier is provided with a speed-up circuit (122) which increases the bias supply amount from a bias circuit to an amplifying transistor by transiently increasing a reference voltage when a control voltage is raised. The speed-up circuit (122) is provided with a capacitor (121) and an overshoot control circuit (201). The overshoot control circuit (201) determines the amount of increase for the reference voltage when the reference voltage is transiently increased depending on a charge amount charged in the capacitor (121) while determining the time constant of the capacitor (121) in charging and discharging.
