Abstract:
Provided firstly in the present invention are a high-intensity discharge lamp with a starting-assisting member attached thereto, a lamp unit, a lamp system, and a projector, wherein the discharge-starting voltage thereof is reduced. Provided secondly in the present invention, in addition to the above-mentioned objective, are a high-intensity discharge lamp with a starting-assisting member attached thereto, a lamp unit, a lamp system, and a projector, wherein restrictions in the position a proximity conductor is to be placed is reduced, and a high degree of freedom in the designing thereof is achieved. In a high-intensity discharge lamp (10) of a lamp unit (1), a ring-formed dielectric (20), comprising titanium compound and having a relative dielectric constant extremely higher than quartz, is arranged on the outer surface of a first sealing section (101A). A down-stream side end section (21a) of a metal wire (21) connected to an external lead wire (102B) exposed from a second sealing section (101B) is made to come in point contact with the dielectric (20). Upon starting up the high-intensity discharge lamp (10), a corona discharge is made to occur in the vicinity of the contact point between the down-stream side end section (21a) and the dielectric (20) to make ultraviolet rays be irradiated, so that the discharge-starting voltage of a light-emitting section (100) can be reduced.
