Abstract:
Provided are a high performance catalyst using a composite catalyst for a steam reforming reaction of methanol and the like, and a method for the preparation thereof. A composite oxide catalyst which is characterized in that it is prepared by the reduction treatment of a ternary or higher component composite oxide having a composition represented by AxByOz (wherein A: Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, B: Co, Rh, Ir, Fe, Ru, Os, Mn, Re, Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr, Hf, Al, Ga, In, x ≤ y < z, 1 at% < x, y = 10 to 40 at%) and satisfying A-O bonding force < B-O bonding force. A method for preparing the composite oxide catalyst which comprises steps of firing an oxide represented by A-O and an oxide represented by B-O to form a composite oxide, and subjecting a spinel type compound or a delafossite type compound comprising the composite oxide to a reduction treatment.
