Abstract:
Disclosed is a high-pressure discharge lamp wherein the time period from lightening to full brightness is remarkably short when compared with conventional high-pressure discharge lamps, and the lightening voltage is low since a glow discharge is started at a lower voltage.
Specifically disclosed is a high-pressure discharge lamp (1), wherein at least a part of electrodes (12A, 12B) which is in contact with a discharge medium sealed within an arc tube (10), or at least a part of a portion which is electrically connected with the electrodes and in contact with the discharge medium sealed within the arc tube (10), is composed of a mayenite type compound.
