Title:
HIGH-SHRINKAGE POLYESTER FILAMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1993/005214
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A high-shrinkage polyester filament of composite core-sheath type composed of two different polyester components, wherein the core component comprises a high-shrinkage copolyester based on ethylene terephthalate units and containing 12 to 35 mole % of at least one polyester-forming bifunctional comonomer and the sheath component comprises a protective coating homo- or copolyester based on ethylene terephthalate units and containing 0 to 12 mole % of at least one above-mentioned comonomer, and wherein the compositing ratio of the core component to the sheath component is 10:1 to 2:1 by volume. The comonomer of the core component polyester preferably contains 12 to 25 mole % of isophthalic acid or 15 to 35 mole % of cyclohexanedimethanol. A non-sticky fabric with high bulkiness or high density is obtained by mixing the above filaments with other fibers, followed by knitting or weaving and the treatment with heat or boiling water.
