Abstract:
A high-strength aluminum-alloy extruded material and a method of producing the material that is excellent in corrosion resistance and in ability to be fabricated, and is suitably used as a structural material for transportation machinery such as automobiles. The material contains 0.6%-1.2% of Si, 0.8%-1.3% of Mg, and 1.3%-2.1% of Cu, and the contents of Si, Mg, and Cu satisfy expressions (1)-(4). The material further contains 0.04%-0.35% of Cr, with Mn as an impurity being limited to 0.05% or less and the balance being aluminum and unavoidable impurities. A cross section of the extruded material has a minute recrystallized structure with an average crystal grain diameter of 500 μm or less. Further, the material is extruded as a solid material by using a solid die where the length (L) of its bearing is 0.5 mm or more and L ≤ 5T (T: thickness of the solid material extruded) is satisfied. Alternatively, the material is extruded as a hollow material by setting the ratio of the flow speed of aluminum alloy at a melt-adhesion portion to that at a non melt-adhesion portion is 1.5 or less, the ratio being that in a melt-adhesion chamber where billet is divided, entered into a port portion, and then again united so as to surround a mandrel.
