Disclosed is a high voltage generating device provided with: a high-voltage transformer consisting of an iron core, and a winding that has a wire wound around the aforementioned iron core; a rectifier installed adjacent to the aforementioned high-voltage transformer; a magnetic shield that blocks the magnetic field generated by the aforementioned winding; a tank within which the aforementioned high-voltage transformer, the aforementioned rectifier, and the aforementioned magnetic shield are placed; and insulation oil to be filled into the aforementioned tank. Apertures are formed at portions of the magnetic shield, and the magnetic shield is installed between the high-voltage transformer and the inner wall of the tank, and separately from the inner wall of the tank. In this case, the aforementioned magnetic shield is installed on the faces of the inner wall of the tank, except the face of the inner wall of the tank existing at the extension of a line extending from the high-voltage transformer towards the rectifier installed adjacent to the high-voltage transformer, and the faces of the inner wall of the tank that are in the axial direction of the winding.
