Abstract:

Provided is a fused flux for highly basic submerged arc welding which is to be used in forming a high-strength weld metal and by which a sound high-toughness weld metal being free from slag-in at the top can be obtained. A fused flux for submerged arc welding, which is to be used in seam-welding a UO steel pipe for pipe lines that has a matrix tensile strength of 800-1200 MPa, characterized by: comprising 5.0-25.0 mass% inclusive of CaO, 1.0-5.0 mass% inclusive of MgO, more than 15.0 mass% and not more than 30.0 mass% of Al2O3, 30.0-50.0 mass% inclusive of CaF2, 10.0-20.0 mass% inclusive of SiO2, and 0.5-15.0 mass% inclusive of MnO; and having a basicity (B) of 1.2-3.2 inclusive. The fused flux for submerged arc welding further contains either or both of Li2O and K2O in a total amount of 0.2-5.0 mass% inclusive.
