Title:
HIGHLY FUNCTIONAL MULTIFILAMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/002598
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a high-strength, high-elasticity multifilament that exhibits little distortion under high loads and excellent dimensional stability in a wide temperature range by using a source material comprising branched polyethylene and by making the overall structure of the monofilaments therein as uniform as possible. The highly functional polyethylene fibers are characterized by: having an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 5.0-40.0dL/g; at least 90% of the repeat units thereof comprising ethylene; having a 72-hour distortion rate of at most 2.0% as measured at 50℃ and under a load which is 20% of the breaking load, and a dimensional change ratio of at most 2.0% in the lengthwise direction after the load has been removed; having a 72-hour distortion rate of at most 2.5% as measured at 70℃ and under a load which is 10% of the breaking load, and a dimensional change ratio of at most 2.0% in the lengthwise direction after the load has been removed; and having a peak mechanical thermal stress value (as measured by TMA) of at least 0.2cN/dtex.
