Abstract:

An ocular lens which is excellent in surface wettability by water and hydrating properties, oxygen permeability, softness, stretchability, transparency, and shape recovery, although it is made of a material formed from a composition comprising monomers including a silicone. The highly oxygen-permeable hydrated ocular lens is one obtained by saponifying a copolymer obtained from ingredients which comprise a specific polydimethylsiloxane terminated by a (meth)acryloyl group at each end, a vinyl carboxylate, a (meth)acrylamide monomer, and a vinyl compound crosslinking agent and optionally further include one or both of a (meth)acrylate having a tertiary structure and a (meth)acrylate having a cyclic structure as (meth)acrylates having a bulky structure in a side chain and a monomer copolymerizable with these.
