Abstract:
Provided is a hill start assist method for suitably increasing hill start torque. An ordinary start smoke limit and a hill start smoke limit having a higher upper flowrate limit than the ordinary start smoke limit are preset as smoke limits. When the demand on the engine of a vehicle stopped on an uphill road transitions to a full-load demand within a prescribed period of time, it is determined that the vehicle is making a hill start, and the fuel flowrate is restricted to the hill start smoke limit.
