Disclosed are a hinge cup assembly and an American damping hinge. The hinge cup assembly (1) is used for being hinged to a combination main body (2) by means of a rotating arm (22), the hinge cup assembly (1) comprising a hinge cup (11) provided with a hinge cup cavity (10), a base (13) located in the hinge cup cavity (10) and provided with a cavity (133), and a damper (12) arranged in the base (13) and capable of moving relative to the cavity (133) of the base (13), wherein the damper (12) is in contact with the rotating arm (22) so as to transmit damping generated by the damper (12). The speed of rotation of the hinge cup assembly is eased during door closing and door opening by means of the damper, so that the crash sound generated when a door sheet and a door frame clash together due to an excessively high rotation speed of the hinge cup assembly is eliminated, and the combination of a damper and a damping cover plate is changed into a combination of a damper and a base, thereby preventing the damper and the damping cover plate from needing to be replaced together when one of the damper and the damping cover plate is damaged, thus reducing costs.
