Provided are an innovative hinge device exhibiting function and effect which are not conventionally available, and an electronic apparatus using the hinge device. A hinge device pivotably connects a first member (1) and a second member (2). A cam section (3) having a protrusion (3A) is provided to the first member (1) or the second member (2) in such a manner that cam section (3) cannot rotate. A cam engagement section (4) having a recess (4A) which engages with the protrusion (3A) of the cam section (3) is provided to the second member (2) or the first member (1) in such a manner that the cam engagement section (4) cannot rotate. The cam section (3) and the cam engagement section (4) are provided so as to be pivotable relative to each other and are configured so as to be movable, against pressing and engaging action of a spring (5) for pressing and engagement, in the direction in which the cam section (3) and the cam engagement section (4) are separated from each other. When the cam section (3) and the cam engagement section (4) are pressed and engaged with each other by the spring (5), the pivotal position of the second member (2) relative to the first member (1) is maintained.
