Abstract:
Provided are: a hole transporting material or an electron blocking material for a photoelectric conversion element for an imaging element including a perylene-based condensed ring compound which can function as a hole transporting material or an electron blocking material for a photoelectric conversion element for an imaging element; an easy perylene-based condensed ring compound production method; and a compound group obtained through π extension of perylene and perylene derivatives that can function as a hole transport material or an electron blocking material for a photoelectric conversion element for an imaging element. A condensed ring compound represented by formula (1) is used. (In formula (1), R1-R12 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a substituent group, or a partial structure of a different ring from the ring in the perylene skeleton represented in formula (1); the substituent group is selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, aromatic hydrocarbon groups, heteroaromatic groups, and arylamino groups; as the different ring, a ring selected from the group consisting of aliphatic rings and aromatic rings is included; and the different ring has an arbitrary neighboring one of R1-R12 as a portion thereof).
