Provided is a hollow fiber membrane module in which each of two hollow fiber membrane bundle end sections is inserted into a bundling tube, each of the two hollow fiber membrane end sections is fixed to each of the bundling tubes via a potting section so that only a hollow internal section of the hollow fiber membrane is open to the outside, and wherein: the hollow fiber membrane hollow opening section of one end section of the hollow fiber membrane bundles is sealed by a sealing member; and a through hole that leads to the interior of the module and that serves as a fluid outlet for a fluid that is supplied from outside of the module is provided to the central portion of the potting section of the module end section that is on the side on which the hollow interior section of the hollow fiber membrane is sealed. This hollow fiber membrane module makes it possible to achieve the effective functioning of not only a hollow fiber membrane that is positioned on a hollow fiber membrane bundle-side peripheral surface or in the vicinity thereof but also of a porous hollow fiber membrane that is positioned in the interior of a hollow fiber membrane bundle.
