Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a hollow fiber membrane which can achieve water permeability and rejection performance at a high level in order to enable water treatment with a small membrane area in the water treatment utilizing the concentration difference from a high-concentration fluid having a high osmotic pressure. [Solution] This hollow fiber membrane exhibits a water permeate flow rate of 30 to 70L/m2/day and has an inner diameter of 50 to 200μm and a degree of hollowness of 24 to 42%. The water permeate flow rate is determined under such conditions that: an aqueous solution having an NaCl concentration of 35g/L and a pressure of 1.0MPa is fed into the outside of a hollow fiber membrane having a length of about 70cm at 25°C and thus brought into contact with the membrane, while fresh water having an NaCl concentration of 0g/L is fed into the inside of the hollow fiber membrane through one open end of the membrane at 25°C and discharged through the other open end thereof at a pressure of 10kPa or less; the flow rate of the feed into the outside of the membrane is twice the flow rate of water permeate flowing from the inside of the membrane toward the outside thereof; and the flow rate of the discharge from the inside of the membrane is 10% of the flow rate of the water permeate.
