Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a holographic optical element which has high light transmittance and small half-value width of a diffraction peak, while being suppressed in ghost light; and a method for producing this holographic optical element. The above-described problem is solved by a holographic optical element 1 which is obtained by providing a volume hologram recording layer 11 between two ultraviolet absorbing layers 10, and wherein: the volume hologram recording layer 11 comprises a high refractive index layer 11A that contains a resin composition having a high molecular weight and a low refractive index layer 11B that contains a resin composition which has a low molecular weight and is obtained by decomposing the resin composition having a high molecular weight; and photocatalyst fine particles 12 are dispersed at least in the high refractive index layer 11A.
