Abstract:
A honeycomb structural body (1) and a method of manufacturing the structural body, the structural body partitioned by porous partition walls (2) and having a large number of through−holes passing therethrough in X−axis direction, characterized in that a total fine hole volume (D) cc&sol g at the end parts of the partition walls (2) is smaller than that at the other parts thereof, and the relation between the total fine hole volume (D) cc&sol g at the end parts of the partition walls, partition wall thicknesses (B) μm at the other parts thereof, and a cell pitch (C) mm is the total fine hole volume (D) ≤ the partition wall thickness (B) x 0.004 and the total fine hole volume (D) ≤ (1&sol cell pitch (C) x 0.18, whereby, in the honeycomb structural bodies (1) having various cell structures, the end parts thereof can be reinforced, and an excellent and practicable erosion resistance can be provided.
