[Problem] To provide a honeycomb structure body in which the honeycomb structure body is secured so as to retain gripping force even if canning of the case occurs, and the partition wall sections are difficult to damage, and a gas-processing apparatus using the honeycomb structure body. [Solution] A honeycomb structure body (1) provided with partition walls (4) forming a cylindrical exterior wall section (2) comprising a ceramic containing aluminum titanate as a primary component and silicon oxide as a subsidiary component, and a plurality of flow holes (3) through which fluid can flow, disposed in a lattice shape on the inner side of the exterior wall section (2), the exterior wall section (2) having a first exterior wall section (2a) and a second exterior wall section (2b) that is thicker than the first exterior wall section (2a), the second exterior wall section (2b) being provided with a reinforcing section containing 3 to 40 wt% silicon oxide, and the silicon oxide content of the reinforcing section being greater than the silicon oxide content of the exterior wall section (2) other than the reinforcing section.
