A honeycomb structure (1) has a center region (11) and a periphery reinforcing region (12). A reference boundary cell (21) has an inner wall (3a) on the honeycomb center side which is orthogonal to an imaginary line (L) and which has a wall thickness smaller than a wall thickness of an outer wall (3d) on the honeycomb periphery side. The reference boundary cell (21) has, among four cell walls (3) that remain after the inner wall (3a) and the outer wall (3d) have been excluded, a reference wall (3c) having a wall thickness different from those of the three other cell walls. The honeycomb structure (1) has a reference three-way unit (31) comprising the reference wall (3c), the outer wall (3d), and a cell wall (3g). The honeycomb structure (1) has a plurality of three-way units (310) oriented in the same way as the reference three-way unit (31). In the honeycomb structure (1), each of the three-way units (310) of the center region (11) and the periphery reinforcing region (12) has the same wall thickness of the cell walls (3).
