Abstract:
This invention provides a honeycomb structure that can ensure a high opening ratio and can also ensure strength. The honeycomb structure comprises a plurality of porous ceramic members each having an outer edge wall on its outer edge and bonded to each other through an adhesive layer. In the porous ceramic member, a plurality of cells are arranged side by side in a longitudinal direction and separated from each other by cell walls. The honeycomb structure is characterized in that, in at least one corner part in at least one of the cells located at the outermost periphery of the porous ceramic member, a filling material for filling the corner part is provided, the sectional form of the cell in the face orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the cell is in a substantially square form, and the sectional form of the filling material in the face orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the cell is in a substantially right triangular form.
