Abstract:
This honeycomb structure is provided with a columnar body having a honeycomb shape and having partition walls that separate a plurality of through holes, opening sealing parts that seal one end of through holes, and a skin layer that covers the side surface of the columnar body. Some of the through holes of the plurality of through holes are sealed by the opening sealing parts on a first end surface of the columnar body and have a second end surface open, and other through holes are sealed by the opening sealing parts on the second end surface and have the first end surface open. In the proximity of the first end surface, the outside diameter of the skin layer has a contracting diameter part that becomes smaller toward the first end surface, and the outside diameter of the skin layer at the first end surface is smaller than the outside diameter of the skin layer in the middle part of the side surface of the columnar body. Therefore, accommodation in a container can be carried out easily.
