Description:
HOOD HINGE ASSEMBLY

Technical Field

The invention relates to the hood hinge assembly used in hoods.

The invention specifically relates to a hood hinge assembly, which consists of integrated hinge parts that enable the opening and closing motion of a glass, metal or plastic cover located at the front of the hood filter.

State of the Art

A hood is a ventilation system element that aspirates the dirty air and transfers it into the ventilation system and cleans the dirty air. Not only does the hood clean the air, it also helps to filter and remove excess heat and moisture due to use. Thus, the dirty air formed in the environment is cleaned. In order for hoods to work more efficiently, they need to be placed at the focus of the dirty air. Therefore, hoods are generally preferred to be placed over kitchen stoves. Hoods prevent cooking fumes produced during the cooking activity to spread around the cooking unit.

In the current state of the art, hoods consist of a chimney inlet, a body, a cover assembly and a front panel assembly. The cover assembly in the wall-type hoods with sloped structure provides an aesthetic image by hiding the oil filter mounted on the body, while maintaining air flow efficiency by providing shielding when it is opened during intense steam.

The present embodiment provides mechanisms for attaching the filter cover assembly to the body and enabling the cover assembly to be opened and closed in the current use of the hoods. These mechanisms are usually formed by the assembling of a large number of parts. In particular, a fixing part and many fasteners are used to secure the hinge assembly used in the glass cover to the body. As a result of the use of a large number of parts and fasteners, tolerance conflicts occur. After a tolerance conflict, the mechanism and parts work in a problematic way. These problems cause jamming or even breaking. In addition, the installation of these structures consisting of many parts is difficult, and even time wasting for the assembly personnel. These time losses lead to increased costs.

In another technique available, pinching glass hinges are used. The pinching hinges hold the glass from the top side of the glass and allow it to move. On the other hand, in this technique, due to the connection established only at two points at the top result in the entire weight of the glass to be carried at the points where the glass is pinched. This leads to undesired results such as breaking of the glass or cracking at the pinching points.

In a research carried out on the subject, a patent application titled“a hood hinge system” numbered TR2018/09257 was found. The invention refers to a hood hinge system used in hoods that aspirates and transfers air into the external environment, allowing the hood cover to gradually open and close and remain open in multiple positions. However, there is no mention of a hood hinge assembly, which consists of integrated hinge parts that enable the opening and closing motion of the glass, metal or plastic cover.

As a result, due to the disadvantages described above and the lack of an available solution on the subject, a development in the relevant technical area is required.

Object of the Invention

The invention is inspired by current situation and aims to solve the aforementioned disadvantages.

The main object of the invention is to provide a more durable and long-lasting structure using fewer parts and fasteners than existing structures. In order to allow the opening and closing motion of the cover, three integrated and parts with compatible operation are used. Due to both the ease of assembly and integrating durable structure, the mechanism is able to operate in accordance with the desired functionality.

Another object of the invention is to provide a hood hinge assembly which is easy to assemble due to the small number of parts.

Another object of the invention is to provide a long-lasting hood hinge assembly by preventing heat, humidity and food vapor from reaching it. In order to fulfill the objectives described above, the invention provides a hood hinge assembly which allows the opening and closing motion of a glass, metal or plastic cover located in front of a filter located inside a motor housing, wherein, it comprises a glass adhesive element to which the cover is mounted, a hinge element positioned on the glass adhesive element in order to provide the opening and closing motion of the cover, and a hinge element counterpart which provides a moving structure by providing a bearing for the hinge element.

The structural and characteristic features and all advantages of the invention will be understood more clearly through the detailed explanation with the following figures and with references to these figures, and therefore the assessment should be based on these figures and the detailed description.

Detailed Description of the Invention

In this detailed description, preferred embodiments of the hood hinge assembly (1 ) of the invention are only given for a better understanding of the subject.

Figure 3 gives a perspective view of the hood hinge assembly (1 ) mounted to the hood (2) of the invention. The cover (13) of the hood (2), which is the ventilation system element that transfers dirty air into the ventilation system and cleans the dirty air, is mounted on the motor housing (3), concealing the oil filter (12) and providing an aesthetic image. It also provides flow efficiency by shielding when the lid (13) is open during intensive steam.

Figure 1 gives a perspective view of the hood hinge assembly (1 ) of the invention when it is mounted on the cover (13), while Figure 4 gives its exploded view. The hood hinge assembly (1 ), which enables the opening and closing motion of the glass, metal or plastic cover (13) introduced in front of the filter (12), which is located at the motor housing (3) of the hood (2), comprising,

- a glass adhesive element (4) to which the cover (13) is mounted,

- a hinge element (7) introduced on the glass adhesive element (4) in order to allow the opening and closing motion of the cover (13),

- a hinge element counterpart (8) which provides a moving structure by providing a bearing for the hinge element (7).

Figure 2 gives a perspective view of the glass adhesive element (4) of the hood hinge assembly (1 ) of the invention. In order to allow the cover (13) introduced in front of the hood (2) motor housing (3) and the filter (12) to be connected to the motor housing (3) and to be opened and closed when desired; firs of all the cover (13) is fixed on the glass adhesive element (4). Then, the hinge element (7), which is introduced on the glass adhesive element (4) in order to provide the cover (13) with the opening and closing motion, is connected to the hinge element counterpart (8), which provides a moving structure by providing a bearing for the hinge element (7).

After connecting the hinge element (7) to the hinge element counterpart (8), the screw (9), which pass through the hinge element (7) and the hinge element counterpart (8) to prevent them from separating, is mounted using the flange nut (10), which secures the screw (9). For the assembling of the hinge element (7) with the hinge element counterpart (8), preferably an M4 screw (9) is put through the hole axes of both parts. And to secure, an M4 flange nut (10) is attached to the end of the screw (9) and screwing is performed by rotating the M4 flange nut (10). Finally, the hinge element counterpart (8) is fixed to the motor housing (3) using the sheet metal screw (1 1 ).

Figure 5 gives a perspective view of the snap lug slot (6) of the hood hinge assembly (1 ) of the invention. The retaining lug (5) is introduced on the glass adhesive element (4), in order to lock the closed cover (13) and to prevent involuntary opening. The snap lug slot (6) is introduced in the motor housing (3) in order to lock and hold retaining lug (5) as the counterpart of the retaining lug (5). The retaining lug (5) and the snap lug slot (6) are interlocked due to their matching structure. Therefore, the locking process can be done easily by hand.
