A hood mounting jig which can, in normal conditions, hold an endoscope hood in a natural state and can successfully mount the endoscope hood even to an endoscope tip having a considerably small diameter.  A hood mounting jig (20) for mounting an endoscope hood (10) to an endoscope (1), the hood mounting jig (20) comprising: a holding member (23) which is adapted to hold the endoscope hood (10) while being inserted in the endoscope hood (10) and can be expanded in diameter; a diameter expanding member (24) which, when subjected to diameter expanding operation, enters the inside of the holding member (23) to expand the holding member (23) in diameter, thereby expanding the endoscope hood (10) in diameter; and a positioning member (26) which, when subjected to mounting operation, pushes out the holding member (23) and the endoscope (1) to separate the holding member (23) and the endoscope (1) from the diameter expanding member (24), thereby causing the endoscope hood (10) to make contact with the outer peripheral surface of an endoscope tip section (2), and further pushes out the endoscope (1) to separate the endoscope (1) from the holding member (23), thereby mounting the endoscope hood (10) to the endoscope tip section (2).
