Abstract:
A hot plugging method for a byte-addressable nonvolatile memory comprises thermal addition and heat removal of the memory. The hot addition comprises physical addition and logical addition. The hot removal comprises logical removal and physical removal. The physical addition is used for converting the memory from an uncharged raw device into a block device having a manageable operating system. The logic addition is used for converting the memory from the block device having the manageable operating system into a memory device capable of mapping a virtual address. The logical removal is used for converting the memory device capable of mapping a virtual address to the block device having the manageable operating system. The physical removal is used for converting the memory from the block device having the manageable operating system into the uncharged raw device. The method is suitable for scheduling and spreading the byte-addressable nonvolatile memory resources on computer systems having various system architectures, thus achieving good market prospect and application value.
