Abstract:
Housing for displays which is further enhanced in the adhesion to a glass member
constituting the housing and which is sealed with such adhesion characteristics
as to exhibit improved long-term durability even under high temperature and
humidity conditions or fluctuant-temperature conditions; and a method for
sealing constituent members of the housing. Housing for displays wherein glass
members constituting the housing are sealed through a sealant layer, characterized
in that the sealant consists of a compound comprising as the main component at
least one member selected from the group consisting of polyimides and polyamic
acids and that an intermediate layer made of a product of burning of a material
comprising as the main component at least one compound selected from the group
consisting of polyimides and polyamic acids which each bear at least one kind
of groups selected from the group consisting of alkoxysilyl groups represented
by the general formula (30) and groups derived therefrom by hydrolysis is present
between the sealant layer and the glass member: -Si-(OR1)3-rR2

alkyl or phenyl; and r is an integer of 0 to 2.
