Abstract:
A hub unit for supporting a drive wheel, where, to join and fix an inner ring (3)
of a hub unit to a hub (2), a pressing die (24) is displaced downward and an annular
processing surface (27) provided on the lower end surface of the pressing die
(24) is pressed against the entire periphery of an extreme end edge of a hollow
cylinder section (13a). Then, in this state, the pressing die (24) is pressed
downward toward the hub (2) without causing the pressing die (24) to rock relative
to the hub (2). As a result, the entire periphery of the hollow cylinder section
(13a) is simultaneously plastically deformed radially outward along the processing
surface (27). Thus, work to form a staking section by radially outwardly and plastically
deforming the follow cylinder section (13a) provided at an inner end of the hub
(2) can be easily and accurately performed. The structure of a device (21) for
forming a staking section is simplified.
