Abstract:
The present invention relates to a human body-insertable dilator using a hydrogel having a dual network structure and, more specifically, to a dilator comprising a hydrogel having a dual network structure, the hydrogel being composed of a biocompatible water-soluble or water-swellable polymer, and a biocompatible water-soluble or phase-transfer polymer. The present invention can provide a dilator comprising a hydrogel having a dual network structure, the dilator having a high expansion ratio, and having better mechanical strength, such as compressive strength and tensile strength, than laminaria and Dilapan-S. Particularly, the present invention can provide a biocompatible hydrogel having a dual network structure, the hydrogel having an excellent coefficient of moisture expansion, having a compressive strength of 30 MPa or more, which is at least twice as high as 16 MPa which is the maximum of a conventional product, and having a tensile strength which is at least 10 times as high as that of a conventional product. In addition, the present invention processes the hydrogel having a dual network structure so as to provide medical expansion rods, artificial joints, artificial ligaments, artificial muscles, scaffolds for tissue engineering, filler materials for plastic surgery/beauty treatment, culture gels for agriculture and gardening, and the like, which can be safely and quickly used without complications and side effects.
