Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a hybrid excitation-type rotating electric machine, and the purpose of the present invention is to inhibit iron loss that occurs when a magnetic flux is generated by means of an excitation coil for exciting a magnetic pole that is not excited by means of a permanent magnet. In order to achieve said purpose, the present invention is provided with: a rotor having a shaft extending at least in one direction of the axial direction, and a first and second core which are separated in the axial direction with a space therebetween and in which first magnetic poles excited by means of a permanent magnet and second magnetic poles not excited by means of a permanent magnet are both alternately disposed in the circumferential direction of the first and second rotor cores, the polarities of the first magnetic poles are different from one another, and the first magnetic poles of one of the rotor cores and the second magnetic poles of the other rotor core are disposed facing one another in the axial direction with the aforementioned space between said first and second magnetic poles; a stator which is disposed on the outside of the rotor in the radial direction and which generates a rotating magnetic field for rotating the rotor; an excitation coil which is disposed within the aforementioned space and which excites the second magnetic poles; and a third core which is disposed on the inner side of the first core, the second core and the excitation coil in the radial direction and which is formed from a material that has a lower iron loss than the shaft.
