Abstract:
A ship propelling mechanism comprises a prime mover, a propeller (7) and a power transmission device (3) for transmitting the power of the prime mover to the propeller (7). The prime mover includes an engine (1) and an electric motor (4), one or both of which drive the propeller (7), and the former of which drives a charging generator (2). The electric motor (4) and electric device (13&sol 14&sol 15) mounted on the ship are operated by the electric power which is stored by the generation of the generator (2).
