This hybrid storage battery is inexpensive, small-sized, long-lasting and constituted from one or a plurality of serially connected virtual batteries, wherein first and second aqueous storage batteries of different types from one another, both comprising a single cell or a plurality of cells, and an organic solvent storage battery comprising a single cell or a plurality of cells, are connected in parallel, the overcharge voltage of the organic solvent storage battery being set to be higher than the water-splitting voltage of the first and second aqueous storage batteries, the mean discharge voltage of the organic solvent storage battery being set to be lower than the mean discharge voltage of the second aqueous storage battery and higher than the mean discharge voltage of the first aqueous storage battery. The hybrid storage device, the power generation and storage unit, the power grid system, and the traveling body use this hybrid storage battery.
