Abstract:
This hybrid vehicle control method is for controlling a hybrid vehicle comprising: an electric generator that can charge a battery using engine power; and an electric motor that drives a drive wheel by using battery power. In the control method: the engine is driven at a first speed when the amount of battery charge falls to a first charge threshold value; the drive of the engine is switched to a second speed, greater than the first speed, when the charge amount falls to a second charge threshold value, less than the first charge threshold value, and the engine is being driven at the first speed; and the engine continues to be driven in this state until the charge amount becomes greater than a charge completion threshold value, which is greater than the first charge threshold value.
