Abstract:
A controller of a hybrid vehicle derives a maximum charge power and a maximum auxiliary power of an electrical storage device, and permits transfer to direct-engine-coupling travel if, at an internal-combustion-engine rotational frequency of a drive force required when implementing direct-engine-coupling travel, a virtual operation point of an internal combustion engine in cases when the maximum auxiliary power is supplied to the electric motor, and a virtual operation point of the internal combustion engine in cases when the maximum charge power is used to charge the electrical storage device, are located within an area in which energy efficiency during direct-engine-coupling travel is higher than energy efficiency during series travel.
