Abstract:
A hybrid vehicle operating on power from an electric motor and/or an internal combustion engine is provided with a transmission ratio changing unit which changes the ratio of electric transmission to mechanical transmission (the latter from the internal combustion engine output), a connecting/disconnecting control unit which releases the clutch when transitioning from operation involving at least the internal combustion engine as a drive source to series operation, and a required output calculation unit which calculates the required output on the basis of the vehicle speed and how far down the acceleration pedal is. During operation with the clutch in an engaged state and with at least the internal combustion engine as a drive source, when the required output exceeds the sum of the output from the internal combustion engine and the output from the electric motor (which affords a driving force by means of the electric power supply from an electric capacitor), the transmission ratio changing unit raises the ratio of electric transmission to mechanical transmission (the latter from output of the internal combustion engine), and the connecting/disconnecting control unit releases the clutch when the internal combustion engine mechanical transmission output portion reaches zero. Consequently, when transitioning from operation using at least the internal combustion engine as a drive source to series operation using the electric motor as the drive source, a power transmission connecting/disconnecting unit can be released while still keeping up with the required output.
