Abstract:
A sleeve-fitting hole (3) is formed in the upper surface of the bottom of a cylinder (1), the interior of which is filled with hydraulic oil, a connecting piece (2) attached to the lower surface of the bottom is swingably connected to an engine block, and a rod (5) is inserted into a sleeve (4), the lower end of which is inserted into the sleeve-fitting hole (3). A pressure chamber (6) provided in the sleeve (4) and reservoir chamber (14) provided outside of the sleeve (4) communicate via oil passages (15) formed between the sleeve-fitting hole (3) and the fitting surfaces of the sleeve (4). The attachment inclination angle of the hydraulic auto-tensioner is increased by shifting the phase of the upper apertures (15c) of the oil passages (15) in the circumferential direction from the reference line (x-x), which passes through the center of the upper aperture of the sleeve-fitting hole (3) and extends in the direction in which the tensioner is capable of swinging.
