Abstract:
A hydraulic shock absorber for vehicles comprises: a container; a partitioning member which partitions the container into a working chamber and a compensation chamber; a piston which partitions the working chamber into an extension-side chamber and a pressurization-side chamber; a piston rod; a free piston which partitions the compensation chamber into a liquid chamber and a gas chamber; a throttle valve which allows the pressurization-side chamber and the liquid chamber to communicate with each other; a valve element which allows the pressurization-side chamber and the liquid chamber to communicate with each other to impose resistance to a flow from the pressurization-side chamber toward the liquid chamber; a check valve which permits only the flow of a liquid from the liquid chamber toward the pressurization-side chamber; and a control mechanism which can alter both the aperture area of the throttle valve and the resistance at the valve element at the same time.
