Abstract:
Provided is a hydraulic shock absorber with which the operability of a piston rod can be improved, an initial set load can be imparted to shock-absorbing rubber for a vehicle, and the ride quality of the vehicle can be improved. This hydraulic shock absorber is equipped with: a cylinder (2); a first support member (11); a cover member (12); a main piston rod (21) penetrating the first support member (11); an auxiliary piston rod (22); and a piston (13) between the two piston rods. In addition, a free piston (15) which is slidably fitted into the cylinder (2) is provided, and a pipe (90) passes through this free piston. A first oil chamber (16) and a second oil chamber (17) on either side of the piston (13) are connected via a restrictor. A second support member (14) separates the second oil chamber (17) and a third oil chamber (18), and the free piston (15) separates the third oil chamber (18) and a gas chamber (19).
