Abstract:

Disclosed is a hydrocracking catalyst for heavy oil, which has cracking and desulfurization activities for heavy oil and has excellent cracking and desulfurization functions. The hydrocracking catalyst for heavy oil comprises a carrier containing crystalline aluminosilicate and a porous inorganic oxide excluding the crystalline aluminosilicate, and carried thereon, an active metal, wherein (a) the carrier contains crystalline aluminosilicate in an amount of 45 mass% or more but less than 60 mass% and a porous inorganic oxide excluding the crystalline aluminosilicate in an amount of 55 mass% or less but more than 40 mass% on the basis of the total amount of the crystalline aluminosilicate and the porous inorganic oxide excluding the crystalline aluminosilicate, (b) the active metal is at least one kind of metal selected from metals belonging to Groups 6, 8, 9, and 10 on the periodic table, and (c) the hydrocracking catalyst for heavy oil has a pore distribution such that the total pore volume defined by pores having a pore diameter of 5 to 1,000 nm is 0.40 dm3/kg or more, and the ratio of the pore volume of mesopores having a pore diameter of 10 nm or more but less than 20 nm to the total pore volume is 60% or more.
