Abstract:
The invention concerns a hydrodynamic braking system equipped with a retarder, in particular a secondary retarder, comprising a rotor arranged in a rotor housing and a stator arranged in a stator housing, said rotor and said stator constituting together a working space; the rotor being axially mobile relative to the stator, from a first position or braking position, to a second position or non-braking position, and vice-versa; and the axial distance between the rotor and the stator in the non-braking position being a multiple of the distance separating them in the braking position. The invention is characterized in that the rotor housing comprises an evacuation device spaced apart from the axis of rotation of the rotor and open towards the rotor in non-braking position, such that the operating substance collected by the rotor is conveyed outside the working space via said evacuation device.
