Title:
HYDRODYNAMIC SPEED CHANGE GEAR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1993005322
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A hydrodynamic speed change gear is constituted by a hollow, tightly sealed, cylindrical body (1), provided with a feed duct (2) and an outlet duct (2a), which are coaxial with each other, and perpendicular to the axis of said hollow body (1); with the feed duct (2) a constant-delivery-rate hydraulic pump (3) is associated, and inside the hollow body (1) a rotor (5) with radial grooves (8, 8a, 8b) is rotatably mounted with possibility of translation under fluid-tight conditions. The rotor (5) is designed to house, and slide over, the blades (10, 10a, 10b) of an impeller (11) integral with the driven shaft (12). At each partial translation, in both directions, of the rotor (5) relatively to the impeller (11), changes are accomplished in the volume between the blades (10, 10a, 10b) interacting with the flowing fluid stream, and hence corresponding changes of opposite sign take place in the revolution speed of the impeller (11), and of the driven shaft (12).
