Title:
HYDROFOIL SAFETY ON A WATERCRAFT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/056530
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to hydrofoils (2) on a watercraft (1) that can be extended, so that said hydrofoils can be moved more rapidly or with better fuel-economy, the hydrofoils additionally having a safety system, so that in a collision between the hydrofoil (2) or the deployment arm (4) and a collision object (3), the deployment arm (4) of a hydrofoil (2) takes on a form that repels said foreign objects, and under an excess load the hydrofoils (2) fold away, wherein: all hydrofoils (2) are mechanically or electronically interconnected and are synchronous during their movement; the hydrofoils (2) maintain a neutral position during a height adjustment (T); the watercraft (1) can be corrected with respect to the longitudinal and transverse axis by trimming means; and the route lying immediately ahead of the hydrofoil (2) can be continuously sensed by the distance- and object recognition sensor (18), thereby avoiding a collision with a collision object (3) early on the approach path.
