Abstract:
Provided is a hydrogen oxidation catalyst which does not contain platinum. This hydrogen oxidation catalyst is characterized by being a binuclear transition metal complex that has a chemical structure represented by general formula (1) or (2). (In general formulae (1) and (2), each of M1 and M2 independently represents Fe or Ru; each of Ar1 and Ar2 independently represents a cyclopentadienyl group or a pentamethyl cyclopentadienyl group; each of Ar3 and Ar4 independently represents a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6-12 carbon atoms; and Ar5 represents a monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6-12 carbon atoms. In general formula (2), each of R1 and R2 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 1-3 carbon atoms.)
