Abstract:
Disclosed is a hydrogen production apparatus which is capable of producing hydrogen with high efficiency, while exhibiting high light utilization efficiency.
Specifically disclosed is a hydrogen production apparatus which is characterized by comprising: a photoelectric conversion unit that has a light-receiving surface and a back surface; a first gas generation unit that is provided on the back surface; and a second gas generation unit that is provided on the back surface. The hydrogen production apparatus is also characterized in that: one of the first gas generation unit and the second gas generation unit is a hydrogen generation unit that generates H2 from an electrolyte solution, while the other is an oxygen generation unit that generates O2 from the electrolyte solution; and the first gas generation unit is electrically connected to the back surface, while the second gas generation unit is electrically connected to the light-receiving surface via a first conductive unit.
