Abstract:
Disclosed is a hydrogen storage alloy which comprises a hydrogen storage base (2) that is formed from a mixture of Mg and another alloy (for example, Mg2Ni), and a catalyst layer (3) that covers the surface of the hydrogen storage base (2). Consequently, the hydrogen storage alloy is capable of achieving high hydrogen storage performance of Mg and high solid diffusion performance of Mg2Ni at the same time. The hydrogen adsorbed to Mg is passed to another Mg (or Mg2Ni) by Mg2Ni. This transfer of hydrogen does not require heat or pressure. Consequently, hydrogen can be adsorbed at room temperature at atmospheric pressure.
