Abstract:
A hydrokinetic energy generator generating electricity from a natural water flow. A water-surface platform has an independent vertical-movement platform, and is mounted at a location having an abundant water source and a strong water flow. The generator is connected to a speed-increasing machine, and the speed-increasing machine is connected to a water turbine. A blade surface of the water turbine directly faces the water flow. The vertical-movement platform is controlled to descend, and the water turbine is impacted by the water flow, thereby driving the generator to generate electricity. When the amount of generated electricity meets a design requirement, the vertical-movement platform is stopped, and the height of the vertical-movement platform is adjusted to adapt to a change in a water flow rate, such that the amount of generated electricity is kept at a constant and stable level. According to a second method, a water flow baffle controls the water turbine which is placed in the water; the water flow baffle is controlled to allow a certain surface area of the water turbine blade to be impacted by the water flow; when the amount of electricity generated by the generator meets the design requirement, the water flow baffle is stopped. One or more hydrokinetic energy generators can be disposed along a water flow in series in order to generate a required amount of electricity.
