Abstract:

A hydrolysis polycondensation starch which has thermoplasticity, flexibility, and practical strength&sol elongation and is economical. The starch comprises a starch main chain and, incorporated in at least part thereof, a flexible linear organic group, e.g., a group represented by −O−(C=O)−O−, −((O−R²)_x−(O−(C=O)−R³)_y)_m−O_z−, or −CH₂−(C=O)−CHR³−O− (wherein R¹ and R² each represents C₁ or higher alkylene or C₆ or higher arylene&semi x, y, and z each is 0 or 1, provided that x&plus y is 1 or 2&semi m is an integer of 1 to 3,100&semi and R³ represents hydrogen, C₁ or higher alkyl, C₆ or higher aryl, or C₁ or higher alkoxy).
