Abstract:
Provided is a hydrometallurgical method for a nickel oxide ore in which, even in the case where a nickel oxide ore having a high carbon content is to be treated, iron can be efficiently inhibited from leaching, the amount of sulfuric acid used and the amount of a neutralizer used can be reduced, and the energy cost can be effectively reduced. This hydrometallurgical method for a nickel oxide ore is characterized by comprising a leaching step for preparing a slurry of a nickel oxide ore having a carbon quality of 0.20 mass% or more, adding sulfuric acid to the ore slurry in a reaction container, and subjecting the resultant slurry to a leaching treatment at high temperature and high pressure, to obtain a leached liquid containing nickel and cobalt, wherein, in the leaching step, the redox potential (Ag/AgCl based) in the leaching treatment is controlled to 520-560 mV by only supplying high-pressure oxygen.
