Abstract:
A magnesium oxide film produced by applying a hydrophobic magnesium oxide particle dispersion and drying the dispersion, wherein the dispersion comprises a polar organic solvent and magnesium oxide particles each having a BET specific surface area of 5 to 200 m2/g dispersed in the polar organic solvent, wherein the surface of each of the magnesium oxide particles is hydrophobized with a hydrolysate of an alkoxysilane in an amount of 0.05 to 0.90 mg in terms of silicon dioxide content per m2 of the surface area and the hydrophobized magnesium oxide particles have an average particle diameter of 10 to 500 nm. The magnesium oxide film has high moisture absorption resistance and can be used advantageous as a protective layer for a dielectric body in an AC-type PDP.
